The 2023 session of the CT General Assembly begins in just a month and CVA is ready to advocate for a list of bills designed to better protect CT's animals. With your help, we will work to push them through this session. The measures include:
Promoting non-lethal methods for peaceful co-existence with CT’s black bears and to stop any efforts for a bear hunt in CT
Expanding Desmond's law to use a courtroom advocate in animal cruelty cases from only cats and dogs to all animals.
Banning the sale of inhumane and commercially-bred cats, dogs, and rabbits from CT pet shops to stymie the “puppy mill” pipeline
Banning the use of wild and exotic animals at circuses and traveling shows
Stopping the use of second-generation rodenticides to protect birds of prey and other wildlife
Closing the statutory loophole to permanently ban greyhound racing in CT
