The 2023 session of the CT General Assembly begins in just a month and CVA is ready to advocate for a list of bills designed to better protect CT's animals. With your help, we will work to push them through this session. The measures include:

  • Promoting non-lethal methods for peaceful co-existence with CT’s black bears and to stop any efforts for a bear hunt in CT

  • Expanding Desmond's law to use a courtroom advocate in animal cruelty cases from only cats and dogs to all animals.

  • Banning the sale of inhumane and commercially-bred cats, dogs, and rabbits from CT pet shops to stymie the “puppy mill” pipeline

  • Banning the use of wild and exotic animals at circuses and traveling shows

  • Stopping the use of second-generation rodenticides to protect birds of prey and other wildlife

  • Closing the statutory loophole to permanently ban greyhound racing in CT
