Shelter Licensing bill signed by Governor Malloy! 2017 Session wrap-up report

lobby_capitol_ct.jpgFantastic news! Governor Malloy has signed our 2017 priority bill, HB 6334 (the Shelter Licensing Bill), which will help ensure that animals receive humane care in all nonprofit animal shelters throughout our state.
Read more about the bill here.

CT Votes for Animals worked closely with Representative Kupchick and the Department of Agriculture in developing the concept for the bill, and ensuring input from stakeholders across the state. CVA expresses our sincerest thanks to Rep. Kupchick for championing this bill through the legislature, to Rep. Themis Klarides, and Environment Committee Chairs, State Representative Mike Demicco and Senators Ted Kennedy Jr., and Craig Miner.

Additionally, SB 522, a bill that would allow bear hunting, failed, thanks to enormous public pressure against the proposal, rallied by groups like CT Votes for Animals.
